Moncton Mystics have knocked on the door before.

This time, they walked through it.

The Mystics celebrated a 90-61 Maritime Women’s Basketball Association road win Saturday night over Miramichi HerIcanes. With the win, Moncton improved to 7-3 to cap its regular season.

The Mystics’ record will give them their first New Brunswick Division regular season crown and assures them of first seed in next weekend’s provincial playoff.

Moncton will host Miramichi in a single elimination semifinal for the right to advance to the PRO•LINE Legacy Cup championship, June 20-21 in Fredericton.

The HerIcanes finished their regular season with a 2-8 mark.

Maddie Eustace and Eva Kalala, two emerging young stars in the league, both struck for 18 to power Moncton. Another rookie, Jesse McCarron, pocketed a dozen. Kalala had nine rebounds and McCarron eight boards.

Ava Sprague paced Miramichi with 13 points. Eden Searles had 12 while Lexi MacInnis and Charlee Connors had 10 each.

Two games remain Sunday to cap the MWBA’s fifth season.

Fredericton Freeze (5-4) visits Truro Tidal Queens (0-9) at noon and Port City Fog of Saint John (5-4) visit Halifax Thunder (8-1) at 3 p.m.

Dates and times for all divisional semifinals will be announced early next week once final seedings are set.
