Hericanes, 56ers Stay Hot

The Port City Fog rolled into Miramichi on a rainy Sunday afternoon looking for their second win on the season. Instead Hericane force #8 Grace Lancaster racked up a game leading 18 points to power Miramichi to a 72-47 win.

With the win the ‘Canes move to 3-1 and into sole possession of second place in the league while the loss drops the Fog to 1-2.

It was the Hericanes third consecutive win and second big scoring game of the weekend for Lancaster who had in Friday’s win against the Fredericton Freeze.  Lauren Rainford added 10 points for the Hericanes.

Amelia Mitchell lead Port City with 16 while Mali Straker added 9.

One other Sunday game in the MWBA saw the Lake City 56ers hosting the Halifax Hornets.  MacKenzie Smith paced Lake City with 19.

With the win first place Lake City improves to 5-1.  With the loss the Hornets fall below 500 and into a three-way tie at 1-2 with the Fog and Halifax Thunder.
