Hornets’ Veteran Adds to Her Number

Jasmine Parent is one of the faces of the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association.

The veteran member of the Halifax Hornets embodies the MWBA.

Former university player. Community-minded. Professional career outside the game. Mom. And much more.

Parent just finished her fifth MWBA campaign with the Halifax entrant and continues to be the league’s all-time games played leader, appearing in 49 games.

To put that into context, she has missed one regular season game, that one coming back in 2023 as the MWBA capped its fifth anniversary season last month.

Amelia Mitchell of Saint John’s Port City Fog is another MWBA familiar face, logging 47 career games in the grey and green. She was a fresh-faced collegiate player with Mount Allison University Mounties when she broke into the circuit.

Eva Tumwine of the Fredericton Freeze is third overall, playing 41 games with New Brunswick’s Capital City entrant.

Tumwine’s former Freeze teammate, Robbie Daley, played in 38 games. Daley missed this season following the announcement of her pregnancy, but has indicated it is in her plans to return for the 2027 season which would shock absolutely no one.

Abby Miller, fresh off a championship for her professional team in Portugal, has played in 37 games with the Miramichi HerIcanes and Moncton Mystics. It’s been well documented Miller would have added to her totals in 2026 as Miramichi protected her on its roster, but the Portugese championship run had her stay extended.

Jenna Jones returned to the MWBA and Moncton after taking 2025 and never skipped a beat this season, providing a veteran leadership and starting role with the young Mystics. She has played in 36 games, the same total as Emily MacNeil, the quiet veteran with Dartmouth/Cole Harbour/Preston’s Lake City 56ers.

Sandy Saunders, Bailey Black and Bailey Henderson round out the top 10 games played with 35 appearances.

The unflappable Saunders has played all her games with reigning PROLINE Legacy Cup champion Halifax Thunder. Black played with the Freeze, Fog and won a 2025 title with her hometown Miramichi before retiring. Henderson played with Port City and her home squad the HerIcanes.

Parent, Mitchell, Tumwine, Jones, MacNeil and Saunders all lead their respective teams in career games played and have never played for another team.

The all-time games leader for Miramichi is homegrown Kassidy Hamilton with 23.

Courtney Cain-Nordin is an MWBA veteran, but appeared in the most games last season for expansion Truro Tidal Queens, playing in eight outings.
