It was raining in Halifax on Saturday.

In fact, it was pouring three-pointers.

Host Halifax Thunder knocked down 13 treys and posted an eventual 73-68 win over Windsor Edge in front of another large crowd at Mount St. Vincent University.

Halifax solidified its hold on second place in the six-team Maritime Women’s Basketball Association, moving to 5-1 and 10 points, snapping Windsor’s two-game win streak in the process.

Hornets are two points behind idle and undefeated Halifax Thunder (6-0). Edge is now 3-3, tied with idle Fredericton Freeze for six points and third spot.

Alaina McMillan paced the Hornets with 17 points. Lucina Beaumont had 13 points and Clara Gascoigne knocked down a dozen in her return to the floor after suffering an injury in the opening game of the season.

The league’s leading scorer, Karissa Kajorinne, popped 21 for Windsor. Chelsea Slawter-Wright scored 11.

Halifax held a slim 38-36 lead at halftime.

One game Sunday has Port City Fog at home to Moncton Mystics.

Game time is 2 p.m. at Saint John High School.
