It was a game of swings in momentum, but the second half belonged to the Moncton Mystics.

The Mystics closed out the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association regular season in style, returning home to defeat the Port City Fog of Saint John, 78-65.

Moncton finished the regular season with a 4-6 record. Port City fell to .500 at 5-5 as both teams now prepare for the Legacy Cup championship June 16 to 18 at TD Station in Saint John.

The Mystics will draw the Halifax Hornets (4-6) in Friday’s quarter-final at 6 p.m.

Port City meets Windsor Edge (0-10) in the other quarter-final.

Regular season champion and No. 1 Nova Scotia seed Halifax Thunder will play the lowest surviving overall record and Fredericton Freeze will face the highest remaining seed in semifinal play Saturday at 5 p.m., and 7 p.m., respectively.

The consolation game goes Saturday at 11 a.m.

At Moncton, Lia St. Pierre continued her impressive play, scoring 18 points to spark the hosts. Allie Berry and Emily Briggs both had 11 and Jenna Jones scored 10.

Courtney Thompson’s 19 paced Port City. Kaylee Kilpatrick notched 16 and Bailey Black had a dozen. Bailey Henderson scored 10.
