The Truro Tidal Queens have been community-oriented since its acceptance into the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association as an expansion team last fall.

From a community name-the-team contest to seeking local graphics for a logo and more, the Tidal Queens and head coach Lonnie States want to immerse themselves into not only Truro, but surrounding Cumberland County and its approximate population of 33,000.

Now, the Tidal Queens have announced two Nike youth camps for girls.

The camps will be held June 13 and 14 and August 14 and 15.

‘This is more than basketball, this is elite training,’ said the Tidal Queens in a new release. ‘This is skills development, empowerment and this is sisterhood.

There will be on and off court skill development and more during the weekends with Tidal Queens bringing in a number of guest coaches.

‘We want to see players bond, elevate their game and elevate their self-worth,’ the release continued. ‘Because the tide raises all ships. When we invest in our girls, we see the return 10-fold.’

Registration will open soon and a location will be announced.
