It’s Basketball New Brunswick’s own version of Old Home Week.

Yes, Summerfest is on the minds of many as the popular BNB event unfolds in Fredericton from July 18 to 20, featuring various age classifications and venues across the Capital City.

Some 80 teams attended last year’s version of Summerfest, using eight different gyms and featuring teams from the host province, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Quebec and Ontario.

Registered teams this year should be prepared to play beginning Friday at noon to Sunday at 5 p.m.

Due to the venue juggling and officiating schedules, any special requests are not likely to be accepted.

Numerous players from the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association including the Fredericton Freeze have played and coached in Summerfest over the years.

There is a men’s and women’s open division for those 17 and over. It’s considered the tournament’s showcase division with all 17-under teams preparing for the 2025 Canada Summer Games next month in St. John’s, NL. There will also be university and collegiate teams, American Athletic Union and strong over 17 club teams.

There’s boys’ and girls’ under-15 and under-1 divisions. Under-15 team will also have an opportunity to compete at age class nationals.

The next wave of players has its own opportunity to shine with boys’ and girls’ development divisions for under-14 and under-13 players

Registration fee for all teams is $600.
