The Halifax Thunder crossed the bridge home with a victory under their belts Sunday.

The two-time reigning champions ended hopes host Lake City 56ers would move to 4-0 in the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association.

Halifax, which arrived 0-1, earned a 76-68 win over Lake City in a game played at Cole Harbour High School.

It was the lone Sunday game, capping Week II.

The teams meet again Friday at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax.

Sami Russell’s 29 points paced all scorers and the Thunder. Hayley Lalor dropped a dozen – off four three-pointers – and Bianca Helming scored 11.

Lauren Armstrong popped 27 for Lake City. Courtney Donaldson had 23.

The teams meet again Thursday at Saint Mary’s University.

Game time is 7 p.m.
