An explosive third quarter broke things open and sparked the Moncton Mystics to a 72-49 win over Windsor Edge in the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association’s Legacy Cup consolation game Saturday.
The game completed the season for both organizations on the floor of TD Station in Saint John.
The teams emerged from their locker rooms deadlocked at 34-34 before the Mystics erupted in the decisive third quarter, outscoring the Edge, 23-4, fuelled by three late three-pointers.
Leonie Elbert paced Moncton with a game-high 24 points. Abby Miller sunk 13, Allie Berry had 10 and Jenna Jones stuck nine.
Nalini Maharaj powered Windsor with 18 points. Kate Gallant dropped 11.
