Allie Berry is the new head coach of the Crandall University Chargers.
Berry, a formidable force with the Moncton Mystics of the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association, will take over the Chargers, preparing them for the 2023-24 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association season.
She will be joined by familiar faces.
Jill Smith, who guided Crandall for five seasons as head coach, will remain with the Chargers as an assistant under Berry.
Smith was head coach of the Mystics last season in the MWBA.
Another Mystics’ player, Leonie Elbert, will be on the Chargers’ staff as an assistant coach.
Both Berry and Elbert coached with Basketball New Brunswick’s under-17 girls’ team this past season as assistants under veteran head coach Bram Russell of Fredericton.
The BNB team played at the national age class championships in Calgary.
Berry and Elbert were teammates with ASC Theresianum Mainz in Germany.
