Well, it’s official.
Halifax Thunder is a perfect 30-for-30 when it comes to regular season games played and regular season wins in the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association.
Thunder kept its mark intact Sunday with a wildly-entertaining and offensive-minded 99-87 win over city rival Halifax Hornets which held a halftime lead. The squad finished 10-0.
Sandy Saunders powered all scorers with 19 points for Thunder, 10 of them in the second half. Grace Lancaster popped 17, Kiera Duffie and Justine Colley-Leger 15 apiece and Katie Upham sunk 11.
Kendra MacKinnon launched 18 for the Hornets. Jasmine Parent scored 17, Nalini Maharaj 11 and Toni Biancini 10.
Hornets finished 1-9.
The teams meet again Tuesday night at Saint Mary’s University in Pro*Line Stadium Legacy Cup playoff action.
Game time is 7 p.m.
The winner of that game goes directly to the championship weekend June 22 to 23 at Dalhousie University.
The loser plays Lake City 56ers of Dartmouth/Cole Harbour on Thursday to decide the final team to join two New Brunswick entrants.
