One of the top players to lace up her sneakers in the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association is returning to the game at the grassroots level.

Justine Colley-Leger of the reigning MWBA Pro*Line Legacy Cup champion Halifax Thunder has landed a new position with Basketball Nova Scotia.

Colley-Leger, a Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame inductee and the all-time leading scorer in USPORTS women’s basketball, has joined BNS as its new Performance Lead. She will oversee BNS performance programming with an eye for excellence and development.

Known for her exceptional contributions as a two-time USPORTS National Player of the Year and a seasoned Canadian national team member, Colley-Leger brings unparalleled expertise to BNS’ performance programming. Her legacy as an athlete and leader, most recently celebrated by Saint Mary’s University where she starred with the Huskies, makes her a dynamic addition to our team.

Halifax Grammar School’s current Athletic Director, Colley-Leger has dedicated her life to empowering young women in sport, as highlighted in a recent profile by Saint Mary’s (https://news.smu.ca/news/2024/2/12/justine-colley-leger-inspiring-young-women-with-her-legacynbsp).

She has scored 156 career points with the Thunder over two MWBA seasons.

Former Thunder teammate Haley McDonald was recently named head coach of the BNS Canada Summer Games team for 2025.
