The Moncton Mystics left the basement.
Moncton earned a 74-57 Maritime Women’s Basketball Association win over Saint John’s Port City on Sunday, bypassing the Fog after earning its second win of the season.
Both wins have come at the expense of the injury-ravaged Fog at Crandall University.
Rookie point guard Kate Filmore sparked Moncton’s offence with 13 points, eight of them coming in the decisive fourth quarter. Sadie Bowen and Eavan McLaughlin both collected 11 points. Lindy Alcorn and Olivia Mowatt had 10 each and Celine Sterckel pocketed nine.
Amelia Mitchell’s 15 paced Port City. Mali Straker and Erin Ingalls both counted 10.
Moncton moved to 2-7 with the win. Port City slipped to 1-8.
