The Maritime Women’s Basketball Association has its schedule complete.
It all begins May 14 and 15 weekend in Fredericton with all six teams in attendance under one roof.
‘We’re incredibly excited with the format that will bring all of our teams together for four weekends including our Final 6 championship in Halifax,’ said MWBA commissioner, Tasia McKenna of Timberlea, NS. ‘Our teams were unanimous in adapting some weekend games where every team plays twice. Those schedules will be augmented with single games between provincial rivals. It’s going to be an appealing format on numerous levels.’
With the first weekend set for Leo Hayes High School in Fredericton, it all begins with Nova Scotia against New Brunswick teams.
The first-ever regular season game will be played at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, when Moncton Mystics clash with the Halifax Thunder. The 3 p.m. game has Port City Fog of Saint John facing Windsor Edge and the 7 p.m. contest pits host Fredericton Freeze against the Halifax Hornets.
On May 15, action begins at 11 a.m. when Port City battles Thunder before the 1 p.m. game featuring Moncton and the Hornets. Windsor and Fredericton bring opening weekend to an end at 3 p.m.
The Hornets will host the second tournament style weekend May 28 and 29 at Mount St. Vincent University while the Mystics welcome the teams to Harrison Trimble High School for June 11 and 12 play.
The Final 6 is set for June 24 to 26 at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax.
You can find all the weekend and individual matchups on this website under Schedule.
Opening weekend ticket packages in Fredericton feature $20 (adult) for a weekend pass to see all six games, $15 weekend pass (seniors/students), $10 day pass for three games and $5 single game passes for adults and seniors and $3 for students. Children under 12 are admitted at no charge.
